The remains of the biggest mosque from the Moorish era served as the foundations for the building of this Gothic style church. Its main entrance is Baroque, and in its interior, the gilded high altar, Rococo in style, is outstanding, as are the baptismal font, made of white Carrara marble and attributed to Michael Angelo, and a Gothic statue representing the Virgin Mary. The church is closed at present for renovation work.
